My hair is a light brown / dirty blonde color. I used to get natural highlights, but now that I'm older my hair has gotten darker %26amp; never been colored before. I have the brazillian hair straightening treatment, so I prefer the less damaging way. I don't think I am allowed to use sun in, because of the treatment.
Should I use lemon juice or sun in?
Which way is less damaging?
Let me know :) I plan on doing it this weekend. What is the best way to highlight my hair?
Hi heyy,
With so much information, it is so easy to get lost and confused.
Since I would like to help, I serched information concerning your question and observed these sites that answers it:

Please do not do either. Here's why:
Sun-in contains metallic salts that embed in the hair shaft permanently. Not only is it initially damaging to your hair (more so than most professional lightening systems) these salts will totally destroy the structure of the hair when it reacts with the existing chemicals in your hair. If it survives that, then when you go to do another color or chemical process over the Sun-in, your hair will turn to a mass of sticky, bubble gum mush, and you will have to get a buzz cut, literally. I've seen it happen.
Lemon juice is so acidic that it makes the hair very brittle and fragile. You will have an obscene amount of breakage, not to mention the results could turn you orange, and it's impossible to predict the results.
Anyway, these are pretty common questions around here. It's widely unknown that these ';alternatives'; end up being more damaging than lightening with bleach. So don't feel bad :)
So book an appointment with your stylist. Professional Bleach has come a long way, and many formulas can condition, lighten and tone all in one step. You shouldn't have any problems with highlighting it, but follow your stylist's advice on after care. I would suggest getting a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (sexy hair organics for example) and repair treatments, like Redken's Deep Fuel.
