What's the best way and color to highlight your hair?

I'm thinking about getting highlights into my hair.

Nice and summerish, i thought.

I have darkbrown hair with a copper-shine, but it's much lighter in the summer (which it already is in Holland). What color would fit best?

And how to apply it evenly, so it also looks great with ponytails? And perhaps a suggestion for a brand? What's the best way and color to highlight your hair?
Go to Sally's beauty supply and buy l'oreal high performance quick blue powder bleach. It comes in a small blue packet for $3.99 and then get a small size volume 30 cream developer. You'll also need a mixing bowl and brush which they also sell. You'll also need a highlighting cap. It has little holes all over it. The cap should come with a small tool you use to pull the hair through. If not they sell them at sally's too. You put the cap on your head and using the tool you can pull as much hair through as you like. Depending on how many highlights you want. Then mix together the powdered bleach and the 30 developer until you have a creamy mixture. (not too water and not too thick) Just keep adding the developer slowly until you reach the right consistency. Then using the brush you just go over your whole head and coat the hair well that you have pulled through the cap. Leave it on for about 30-35 minutes then leaving the cap on your head wash it out. If you have someone that can help you pull the hair through the cap even better but you can do it yourself. I did this to my hair and the results were amazing!!What's the best way and color to highlight your hair?
