Depends on the condition of your hair really. I have done this before and I always make sure I put in a good treatment before I go getting highlights done. Then get the highlights and put in another treatment. i know what its like for hair to turn out much darker then expected. Its happened to me a few times, but I still experiement with color and surprised that I still have hair sometimes. He,he,he... Anyway, all the best!
In a salon yes but the stuff we use at home is cheaper and not that great for the hair. wait another day or 2 it will lighten up then put the high lights in. Been dying my hair for years and I never keep it on for as long as the box says like if it says 20min I keep it on 15 and most of the time it comes out ok.

Together in a bowl n put in my hair for about 20 min
Put a shower cap or plastic bag!
It works pretty well

yeah i guess you could but its going to completely fry and kill your hair.. i would wait a couple of days before you decide to put any other chemicals in your hair

Do I have to bleach my hair to highlight/ dye it?
I want to temporarily dye/highlight my dark brown (close to brown in some parts) to hair that looks like it has natural lighter brown highlights (not too light) with a tint of red. Will I have to bleach it? Because I really don't want to, also please don't suggest the lemon in the hair under the sun thing. I have asked several stylists and they gave me unclear answers and I don't really trust them. Also does anyone know of some trustworthy stylist in the Virginia, Fairfax, Tyson's, Vienna, Springfield area?Do I have to bleach my hair to highlight/ dye it?
If you want your highlights to be within two shades lighter than your current color, a stylist should be able to use dye without bleach.
If not, when brown hair is bleached, it turns red before blonde...meaning it takes less time to process and less damage (if any).
And if not that...well...you could get highlight extensions?

Ok, I may just be a little on the dumb side, but I'm having major issues. I bought a do-it-yourself highlighting kit with the cap. However, what is the trick to getting the stupid hook to grab your hair and pull it through. I can only get very small pieces through. I've tried both size hooks, and neither one works any differently. So, HELP! What am I doing wrong?How to highlight your hair using a cap.?

Thats because i had longer hair at the time. you are better off trying one of those highlighting kits that you just comb in your hair. Or just go to a Pro. hi!! i think u can wear every hair that makes u confortable. just because a hairstyle is good 4 u doesn麓t mean that u should wear it if u don麓t feel confortable in it.

My hairstylist tried a test strand for a hour and didnt come out to a near platinum I always get but it is more of a brassy blonde. Is there anything I can wash my hair in to let the highlights become lighter? Unless you re bleach your hair again- there's nothing out there that will lighten your hair more. If you want it less brassy you can try using Shimmer Lights Shampoo ( or any other violet based shampoo. ) or have your stylist use a toner that will counteract the brassiness.
